Holy Feast announcing the birth of our Lord, I was welcomed into our Christian
community.
Do you know the date of your Baptism?
I once heard a priest say in a homily
that we should know the date of our
baptism just as surely as we know our
own birthday. It prompted me to go
home to look for the date in my baby
book—and I have not forgotten this date
ever since. While we cannot predict on
the day of our baptism the prophetic
destiny which awaits each of us, we do
know that God has a plan for us as dis-
ciples of Jesus Christ. Like John the
Baptist, we must accept our Baptismal
call and live in prophetic witness to the
Good News. For a most precious child is born…Jesus Christ…in order that we
may be born and re-born in ways of love, justice and humility.
Prayer
Lord, help us to recall the precious gift of our Baptism and our invitation to live in
union with Jesus Christ. On Christmas day, as we kneel before the crèche, may
we see the Holy Child with the eyes of a childlike faith…for his birth also signifies
our re-birth.
