These would have been impressive lessons to the young Jesus just as
a family praying together, weekly attendance at mass and observing
the liturgical calendar does for children today.
Today life offers countless resources on”how to be a great this or
that.” The real means for a child to grasp great fAaith comes from
the atmosphere of the home, one of desire. The influence of home is
where Jesus received his first lessons about his biblical ancestors.
The carpentry shop probably buzzed with conversation between Jo-
seph and Jesus about God’s will in their life.
Jesus, “
this child set for the fall and rising of many”
was undoubtedly
assisted by his parents to prepare and assume the hopes and expec-
tations for the future, as written in the scriptures. This
Blessed Holy
Family
is model and guide for all of us preparing children in their walk
as beloved disciples, through them, and each one of us, the thoughts
of many hearts may be revealed.
Prayer
Mary and Joseph intercede for
us with your divine Son in or-
der that we too, in today's
world, might be authentic
prophets and true witnesses to
the Word!
