Luke 19:11-28
Summary
Jesus tells a parable of three servants who were each
given
ten
gold coins. Two servants had earned additional coins for their
master while the third buried the coins in the ground. When the master re-
turned he congratulated the first two servants and punished the third for
doing nothing with his coins.
Reflection
We see in this parable a discussion of what we do with the gifts that we are
given. Do we take them for the gift they are and do more with them or do
we bury them in the ground, ignore them and taking the gifts for granted?
Our gifts take many forms, be they the ability to proclaim the word during
Mass, help those who have lost a loved one, work with the youth of the
parish, feed the poor, visit
the sick, sponsoring
someone into the Catholic
faith, or another of the
many gifts God has given
to us,
yet
each one needs
to be used to the fullest
extent that they have
been given.
If you look at
a lector, they do not just
proclaim the word of God
once a year. They pro-
claim the good news
