owe everything in our lives to God? Perhaps we
can only know whether we’ve built our faith
upon the ability to surrender and listen when we
are tested by “winds” and “floods.”
In my own life, which has been innately filled
with worry over one thing or another, I have
come to realize that, as my faith has been
tested as teenager, adult, mother and teacher,
what remains after the storms of fear and un-
certainty is God’s goodness and grace. For
years I have been hearing the message that
God’s will is the only certainty in this life. Only
recently have I begun to listen and act upon this God-given truth.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for the grace you have allowed in my life, time and
time again, for demonstrating in many ways through those I love that
fear is unproductive, that walls meant to protect serve egos and not
your will. I pray for the ability to listen and act in the knowledge that
your will rises above all chaos and uncertainty. In this season of Ad-
vent, through lighting of candles each week, we await the coming of
Jesus, reminded of the prophet Isaiah’s words. May we, with hope
and joy, act upon the most important message of love the world has
ever received.
Amen
