Reflection
The Little Prince (in the book of that name) meets a fox in the desert. The Little
Prince is lonely and wants to be friends with the fox. The fox explains that this
cannot be because he has not been "tamed" by the Little Prince. The fox goes
on to say that to be "tamed" means that you have "ties" to the other. To be
"tamed", to have "ties" means that the other is now unique, special, irreplace-
able. It also means that now the two of them have "responsibility" to care for
each other.
