So it is with our "ties", our covenant to our God and each other. In these bonds
we are "tamed", we a bound to each other, we are responsible to and for each
other. In this covenant we and God are both "tamed". We belong now to each
other
But something horrible can happen, either out of our blindness or self-
centeredness. We can try to "go it alone". And we all do this. But the Good
News is that God will not sever His ties to us. In a way, at times our relationship
with God can be a one-way street: us wandering off, willfully attempting to build
our little empires, and God waiting for us, watching for us, calling us.
It is truly humbling when we realize that God is there with us, all along, and it is
we who have gone off on our own. Once we say "yes" to God's presence in our
life, we are "tamed", we have a bond to "all that has been, is now, and ever shall
be". We later can try to sever this tie, but we will be haunted and hunted by our
Lover until we turn around and come home.
Prayer
Oh Lord, how wonderfully you have made us!
And how wonderfully you breathe your Spirit into us, every moment of our lives.
Give us the grace to receive your Spirit
to hope for it, to long for it, to trust it.
You give us life.
Give us the gift of saying "yes" to You!
