Summary
If we believe in God’s mercy and compassion we can be assured that
those in relationship with God will live with Him in eternity.
Reflection
The first reading says that “God has tried them and found them wor-
thy of Himself”. How can we possibly be worthy of an all holy God?
It is God’s unconditional love that refines us in the furnace. When we
ask for forgiveness he doesn’t demand an explanation. There is
nothing He is not prepared to give us – especially eternal life. He
asks only that we place our trust in Him and remain faithful.
Paul’s reading conveys the fact
that Christ died for all – those
worthy and those unworthy, in an
attempt to save all mankind. It is
not what we have done for God,
but what God has done for us,
without compensation, but with
love.
