Summary
Jesus told his disciples about a rich man who com-
mended his steward for being shrewd with his wealth; “for the chil-
dren of this world are more prudent in dealing with their own genera-
tion than the children of light."
Reflection
This passage is always so troubling to me. The shred steward is re-
warded for being self-serving. How could being self-serving be
honored by Jesus when Jesus was the exact opposite—selfless serv-
ing? What is the message for me—for I am a child of this genera-
tion.
